Langkawi Underperforming, Warns Mahathir of Regional Competition Risk
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has cautioned that Langkawi, designated a duty-free island nearly 40 years ago, has achieved only half its possible capacity and faces competitive pressure from other Southeast Asian tourism destinations.
