Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has tasked MADANI Communities nationwide with spreading accurate and verified information about government initiatives to citizens, stressing that this responsibility extends beyond official agencies like the Information Department (JAPEN) and the Community Communications Department (J-KOM).
Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, Fahmi highlighted key government accomplishments that community leaders should communicate to grassroots audiences. He cited the government's food security efforts, including maintaining adequate rice reserves during festive periods, and the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS), which has made subsidised cooking oil more accessible to consumers through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.
These successes, achieved under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's administration, represent important milestones that MADANI Communities must relay to the population, Fahmi added. During the event, he distributed appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 term.
The Communications Ministry plans to conduct regular information briefing sessions for community leaders, keeping them updated on government policies and current developments. JAPEN has been assigned to oversee MADANI Community performance and ensure they remain active in grassroots information dissemination efforts.
Fahmi warned that underperforming MADANI Communities would face scrutiny, with potential replacements for inactive units or ineffective leadership. The minister said swift action would be taken where communities fail to fulfil their communication mandate.
