Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Johor voters to elect leaders demonstrating integrity, wisdom and humility when wielding authority, stressing the importance of protecting the welfare of ordinary citizens and vulnerable communities. Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) rally in Muar on June 15, he cautioned against political factions that weaponize racial and communal divisions to secure support before abandoning their obligations once in power.

Anwar emphasised that political success requires public engagement and critical thinking. He warned voters against those who deliberately foster hatred and resentment, urging them instead to consider the broader implications for the nation, its education and healthcare systems, and future generations. Leaders chosen by the electorate must resist arrogance following victory and prioritise resolving genuine public concerns, he added.

Coordination between state and federal governments is essential for maximising the reach of development initiatives and economic advantages from major infrastructure projects, according to Anwar. He highlighted that Pakatan Harapan's electoral victory in Johor would enable policy alignment with the Federal Government's development roadmap, ensuring grassroots communities fully benefit from negotiations and resource distribution.

The Prime Minister referenced major undertakings including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and expansion of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, noting federal responsibility in negotiating and executing these initiatives. While acknowledging state government contributions, he expressed his desire for Johor's state representatives and executive council members to prioritise the welfare of ordinary residents over other considerations.

Anwar made a direct appeal to Johor residents, particularly those living elsewhere, to return and participate in the July 11 state election. He underscored that every ballot carries weight in driving policy transformation and ensuring equitable distribution of economic gains across society.
